Thoughtful design and subtle, understated detail are at the core of British contemporary womenswear label SIDELINE, whose foundation is woven indigo fabrics worked into inventive designs.
Clean yet relaxed and feminine, this line of everyday clothing feels special and is designed to be worn, returned to, and loved again and again. Every collection is designed by founder Ellen Brookes at the SIDELINE studio on England’s south coast – housed in a converted brewery; whose brick walls are pinned with inspirational imagery and textiles, acting as an ever-evolving mood board to inform each piece.

Following on from our hugely successful Eco Day Mercantile are committed to supporting brands that are trying to reduce their impact on the earth. The foundation of SIDELINE has always been to make clothes that last as a reaction to the industry of throw-away fashion. SIDELINE prides itself on ethical and sustainable practices, prioritising ethical manufacturing, fair working conditions and living wages.

All denim and casual cottons within the collection are treated with innovative laser technology and water-less ozone washing, packaging is 100% water soluble and marine-safe and 2019 will see Ellen looking to replace the cotton and denim fabrics that feature in the collection with organic fibres.
Every woven SIDELINE piece is made in a small factory in Vietnam that specialises in high quality denim and casual production. The knitwear and knitted accessories are made by long established manufacturers in Scotland using traditional seam-free machinery and only the best quality yarns.

Standout pieces this season include the sell-out Pia jean appearing in a new mid wash and Rue which is a high rise, wide leg crop jean with two cute front pouch pockets, available in the same mid wash. Both styles are made from 100% cotton denim and are treated with a sustainable ozone process which eliminates water and bleach from the production.
Roxie is a classic cotton summer dress with placement embroidery, that will become a classic in your wardrobe and Flora is a casual, loose fit skirt in a cotton/linen mix that looks effortless teamed with a simple tee and summer sandals.
