"Green is the fresh emblem of well-founded hopes. In blue the spirit can wander, but in green it can rest". – Mary Webb
One of the nations favourite colours (after blue) and with more shades than any other colour, the colour green was revered by ancient cultures. Egyptians used forms of malachite and azurite to decorate their temples, whilst the Romans developed verdigris and attributed the colour green with Venus the goddess of love and beauty. The national colour of Ireland, and symbolic of rebirth, and new beginnings, green is globally thought of as a 'lucky' and positive colour. With a neutral balance of warm and cool, shades of green are restful and calming, and so often used in environments such as medical settings to both calm nerves and promote a feeling of safety. As a secondary colour green sits well with both its component colours of blue and yellow, with rose, grey and nude providing a harmonious base.
