Continuing the Finnish inspiration of the Pre-Spring 2022 collection, Baum Und Pferdgarten delve into the new season with a homage to Finnish modernist architect and designer, Alva Aalto. In particular, Aalto's mesmerising outdoor swimming pools that embody the delicate balance between strong graphic lines and soft organic shapes that he is so famous for.
Building on this pioneering legacy, the creative team at Baum und Pferdgarten has investigated the balance between functionality and aesthetics in an effortless mix, with references to swimwear and bold pieces for easy living.
Signature prints point to Aalto’s archive. Statement pieces in a shiny synthetic crepe feature organic lines referencing both his iconic ’Savoy’ vases as well as the shapes of his swimming pools.
Subtle shades of oatmeal and stone merge into crisp white, classic black, and Baum’s signature navy. Wardrobe staples include knitwear, tailored pants and second-skin layers which are re-worked for the 'modern athlete'. A seasonal palette of lime green, and acid yellow injects vibrancy.
Another stand-out piece is a versatile trench coat in yellow/black houndstooth jacquard with a contrasting windbreaker back panel that adds soft volume to the silhouette.
Both casual pieces in cotton, as well as dressy pieces in crepe and silk satin, feature a rounded statement collar with an elongated organic shape imitating the visual vocabulary of Aalto. And in a similar manner, curved cut-lines add volume and shape to skirts and dresses.
