"WRAPPING TO REVEAL"

For the Pre-Spring 20123 collection Baum Und Pferdgarten found inspiration in Paris where one of the iconic landmarks the Arc de Triomphe was breathtaking wrapped posthumously by Christo, seemingly to reveal the true shape of the historic monument. From this the creative team at Baum Und Pferdgarten turned their attention to Madame Gres, deeply fascinated by her legacy of draping the female body in a manner not un-similar to Christo. Using their signature as a starting point for the collection, the focus became the wrapping and revealing of the female form.

The collection draws on a palette of bright and rich colours, calling for the beginnings of Spring. A  blouse and dress rendered in a metallic liberty flower style print is fashioned with balloon sleeves to create a refined volume and shape. A cable knit cardigan with cottage-core qualities is adorned with delicate handmade flowers in orange, pink and green, reflecting the colour palette.

As the collection progresses the palette becomes more neutral with tones of white and blue but continues to play with form.  Signature pieces include oversized denim jacket with frayed raw edging, along with a classic house code of bold prints balanced by strong shapes. These body-conscious silhouettes are worn with boyish, oversized pieces, which speaks to one of the core elements of Baum und Pferdgarten’s DNA: the overtly feminine versus menswear characteristics.
