Nothing announces the arrival of the summer season more than French brand Des Petits Hauts and this Spring/Summer 17 they deliver a standout collection based around their recent travels. A specially created 'fantasy' print and strong, bright colours run throughout ‘Hotel Palmito’, ‘Coconut’ has a retro edge and Flow draws on inspiration from the natural world.
Hotel Palmito:
This season DPH show us a cool woman, who’s not afraid of bright colours and bold prints. Artist Lea Maupetit has created a unique jungle print which is showcased across tops, skirts and dresses. With a Brazilian influence expect a colour mixture which includes palm green, guava berry pink, biscuit, blood red and marine.
Coconut:
A trip to Miami was the inspiration for this theme with the ideas of a pastel paradise, cocktails by the pool and faded Art Deco architecture.
With the DPH muse imagined as a pretty, retro pin-up in pink rimmed sun glasses and golden shoes, she wears silk dresses, tight tee shirts, fitted striped sweaters and garments with touches of lurex, which reflect the light of the water as she walks by the Art Deco swimming pool.
A cheeky toucan print dominates and colours include flamingo pink, water green, midnight blue, and gold, with textures of shimmer and shine.
Flow:
A large glass of white milk, a dip in an iodine blue coloured sea, a walk on the cliffs of Hydra, yellow mimosa lining the streets, pebbles and sand...provide sweet, sensual memories of a beautiful holiday on a Peloponnese island. Simple, natural yarns and materials were used to create this theme. Organic cotton sweaters, sky blue chambray shirts, yellow sear sucker blouses, soft blue and white striped linen, white tee shirts with a hint of gold and raffia platted belts recall the pure beauty of DPH’s holiday island trip.
Colours that appear include yellow mimosa, blue aurora, white, ecru, sky blue jeans, all lifted by threads of gold.
