September 07 2020 – Mercantile London
To welcome in the autumn season, Mercantile London headed down to Mersea Island in Essex (once a holiday home for the Romans from nearby historic Colchester) with a selection of favourite pieces from the new collections.
An edit of easy to style but elevated pieces were combined with the last of summer’s shorts, and bare feet. Summer dresses were re-worked with layered knitwear and checked worker style jackets by Samsoe & Samsoe. The Baum Und Pferdgarten's craft spun Coleen Faroe top whilst styled with bare arms now is perfect for layering as the days cool. Meadows offered a printed cotton top and dress for right now and then a dark velvet floral with vintage touches of lace as the nights draw in.
Long sleeves were juxtaposed with bare legs and Birkenstocks, topped off with Bellerose sunhats and a finishing touche of casual cord necklaces laced with semi-precious stones of sunny citrine, turquoise and sea glass chalcedony from Wanderlust.
Set against a backdrop of coastal colour, autumns stronger palette starts to appear in shades of amber, bay, maroon and deep purple, whilst still holding on to those last summer days with shell pinks, deep azure and bleached out shades of sandy beige.
